Timor-Leste

Timor-Leste is one of the world’s youngest countries, both by the age of its inhabitants and the time since official independence. It’s 25 years under Indonesian occupation were tragic as a majority of the indigenous population deeply opposed the occupation and many died through war and famine. I visited three times: when Indonesian controlled the territory, during the United Nations independence referendum period, and during the post independence period.

I think I took the featured photo in Dili, the second shot near Los Palos at the eastern end of the island, and the third in the upcountry central town of Maubisse but I’m not sure about the small meat stall one.
